ETON COLLEGE OLD CHORISTERS ASSOCIATION

CONSTITUTION AND RULES

APPROVED NOVEMBER 2002

1. The Association shall be called the Eton College Old Choristers' Association (E.C.O.C.A.)

2. Full Membership shall be confined to past choristers and lay clerks of Eton College, and those connected with the musical services of Eton College Chapel. Membership includes entitlement to attend the AGM, and to vote.

3. There will be an annual subscription payable on 1st. August each year, the amount to be determined by A.G.M. For members over 65, a one-off payment, of an amount deemed to be appropriate by A.G.M., will continue membership for the remainder of the member's life.

4. The Officers of the Association shall be President - who will be the Provost of Eton, or, if he does not accept the position, his nominee - Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. There will be a Committee reflecting, where possible, the varying age groups of members. The Officers and Committee will be subject to annual election at A.G.M. The signing power for expenditure of the Association's funds will be agreed by the Committee.

5. The Committee must meet at least twice a year.

6. The Committee will appoint a suitably qualified person to review the Association's accounts. The Treasurer will present such accounts to A.G.M. for their approval each year.

7. The Association's A.G.M. will normally be held in November, in conjunction with the Association's annual reunion at Eton College, the precise date being at the College's discretion, with written notice of not less than 21 days. Motions shall be carried by a majority decision at the AGM.

8. The Association, at A.G.M., may appoint as a Vice President any person deemed to have provided exceptional service to the Association or music at Eton. Such appointment does not confer to the appointee any Association membership rights, nor require a subscription. Members of the Association who are appointed Vice Presidents enjoy full member's rights but also do not require a subscription.

9. The Association shall be affiliated to the Federation of Cathedral Old Choristers' Associations. Members of other affiliated Associations shall be entitled to apply to become Associate members of E.C.O.C.A., by paying the appropriate subscription, their membership being approved by the agreement of the E.C.O.C.A. committee and notified to A.G.M.. Associate membership does not include E.C.O.C.A. voting rights, but allows attendance at E.C.O.C.A. events including the annual reunion.

10. Attendance at the dinner held with the annual reunion and A.G.M. is available to all Members who apply to the Secretary, with remittance by the due date to be informed annually. In the event of over-subscription to the dinner, priority will be:-

a. The President and the Association's honoured guests.
b. Members of the Association who were pupils at the former Eton College Choir School.
c. Other members of the Association.
d. Associate members.
e. Wives/partners of members (in those years in which wives/partners are invited).
f. Other guests of members.

11. The colours of the Association shall be Royal Blue, White and Gold on a black ground.

12. In the event of the dissolution of the Association, the records of the Association will be offered to Eton College. Should these be declined in their entirety, they will be offered to an appropriate County Record Office, or other suitable repository.

13. No alteration of this constitution and rules shall be made, except at A.G.M. with a two-thirds majority vote of those present. Notice of any proposed change shall be given to the Secretary at least one month before the A.G.M.
